Lubanja (Styrax benzoin) is an unusual form of benzoin that comes to us from Ethiopia. It is rare as it is only harvested in small quantities from tiny villages across the countryside. The native population uses Lubanja as as part of their coffee ceremony, a sacred rite when lubanja is burned after they roast coffee beans. It gives off a delicious aroma of vanilla and known to have strong relaxing properties. If you are using lubanja for a blend, it mixes well with frankincense, myrrh, sandalwood, cedarwood, vetiver, and patchouli to name just a few.
